I got selected to follow B.Sc. in Biological Science course at Eastern University Sri Lanka. Which is situated in Batticaloa in the Eastern corner of Sri Lanka. I started my journey with many expectations and hope.
Initially, I was worried about the transport since I had to travel more than 350 km from my place. And a major challenge is to adopt to their culture and facilities also to change my lifestyle. Anyway, I was able to manage with huge difficulties. Understanding the life facts, to make my dream alive.
To achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication.
The life journey in my university gave me different experiences. I got a chance to be a member of student union of the university board. And to be a part of Science projects enhancement community.
My main subjects were, Chemistry, Biology and Zoology additionally with Information Communication Technology, English and Other core courses.
Unlike school days, learning and teaching modes at university is different and we spent most of our time in practical sessions in the laboratory rather than theory sessions. Dissecting the animal bodies in the Zoology laboratory, standard chemical titration at the chemical laboratories and dealing with microbiology laboratories were different experiences in my academic activities.
I was an outstanding academic performer during my 3 year period of studies. I spent my leisure time in helping final year research students with there project work.
Not only in academics, I focused to develop my skills in co-curricular activities too, and that help me to develop my knowledge in different contexts.
Co-curricular and sport activities that I enrolled,
- Being a part to Lions Badminton club.
- Member of Student Union Eastern University SL.
- Engaging in career guidance programs.
- Member of toastmaster club faculty of science.
- Involving in the social program conducted be service & social Justice.
At the same time I was able to complete a certificate course in psychology during the period of time.
Eventually, I ended-up achieving the class of Second Upper in my degree.
