Most teenagers are receiving little to no career guidance outside the home and are not pursuing the appropriate educational plan for real world career opportunities and business needs.
According to an analysis conducted, Students career choices are most often based on personal interest and not career opportunity. They are not taking the necessary educational steps or acquiring the right skills to pursue excellent, high-paying jobs in fields with severe worker shortages.
Proper understanding on high demanded career fields and job market is important. Which enables students to gain insight into potential careers. Also, unemployment rate of graduates could be minimized by selecting a suitable educational path towards educational job markets.
Students need career guidance to explore and plan for future career endeavors based on their individual interests, skills and values. Participation in career guidance enhances linkage of academic and career experiences and thus, improves career preparation and management.
I always use encouragement and motivation as a tool in my teachings process. I induces their desire to learn by narrating interesting facts about future, university life and other.
I also conduct separate Motivational programs which target G.C.E Ordinary level students as well as Advance level students. Proper guidance should be given on University course selection, advance as well as vocational career opportunities. Not only for students but also for parents.
