After completion of ordinary level examination, I started to follow, Diploma in Microsoft Office. Which is where I acquired all the fundamentals and operational skills of Information communication technology.
I was certified and gained comprehensive understanding of Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Access and other operational skills.
In the current job market, knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is essential as it helps to make your mark. Having this knowledge behind, allowed me to feel more confident in using emerging technology and to become faster in finishing tasks. And I was also able to work independently in my current as well as previous working environments. Also, not to mention the virtual mode of evolution of work places in the concurrent periods.
Being able to communicate and negotiate successful in English would be much befitting in this domestic world. And the companies want people who know how to speak the language of the world.
My first language is Tamil. But anyway, during my childhood days I was able to communicate in English in a good level. Since, all my cousins studied in English medium and they also use to negotiate in English thus, it eliminate my fear and made me confident to speak up.
Secondly, in order to enhance my knowledge in English language skills further, I joined to the "Extension Course in English" conducted by University of Peradeniya. Here, we were taught to develop language skills under four criteria. As Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. I completed this course successfully before entering to the university to begin my first degree.
I had a desire to learn Psychology. I have always been an empathetic person in every situation. It induces my desire to be a social butterfly, to show interest to understand, to connect and to learn from the people. I enjoyed solving problems and to learn from my experiences. Also I have been issued trusted source of advice to many of my fellowships.
Thus, I got an opportunity to do a Certificate level Psychology course in my university.
Which include basic psychology strategies about emotions, motivation, cognition, love and communication.
After completion of my first degree, I started to read Masters in Applied Microbiology as my second specialized field. At University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka.
The level of professionalism is one of the biggest factor in our career success. It might sound dramatic, but it's true! This trait affects every aspect of how we do the job.
Though, I have an appropriate background in academic field, I also realize the need of professional skills. So, I made a better choice to follow, Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice in English at Open University Sri Lanka.
